At the Post and Telecommunications Bloc conference, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that telecommunications cannot simply ”upgrade” from 3G to 4G or 5G to add little value. In the context of a rapidly growing digital economy, telecommunications must shift its role: not just as a connectivity infrastructure, but as a digital capacity infrastructure for businesses and society, contributing to creating new growth drivers for the country.

By 2026, the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology aims to bring Vietnam’s digital infrastructure on par with advanced countries: mobile speeds reaching 170 Mbps, fixed speeds 300 Mbps, 99% of the population covered by 5G, and 40% of the population able to access 1Gbps broadband.
